TREE PLANTATION DRIVE - JUNE 2019

Planted 5000 Trees - Fulfilling our duty towards the society.

Lt Col Bharat Pannu undertook the Go Green Campaign along with his attempt at the 5000 km cycling event RACE ACROSS AMERICA (RAAM) 2019. Apart from increasing awareness about the benefit of tree plantation, he was at the forefront in planting 5000 trees (1 tree for each km of RAAM) as part of the Go Green Campaign. He was able to take this initiative forward along with the full-fledged support of the Forest Department, Nashik, and Samsonite South Asia Pvt Ltd, Nashik. The forest department provided the suitable land for plantation in Wasali Shivar, Near Sula Vineyards, Nashik and Samsonite took the responsibility of providing saplings, preparing pits, watering for 3 years, fencing along with the overall security. The selection of the trees was done in consultation with the forest department to maintain the local ecosystem and ensure high survivability.

The tree plantation drive to plant 5000 trees commenced on 15th June 2019 with the onset of monsoons and concluded in August 2019. The plantation drive was made possible with extensive support from the Nashik citizens who came ahead to support the cause. The whole-hearted support from Neeta Narang and Dr. Manisha Raundal made this mission possible within the small time frame of 06 months. Nashik Police department, Forest Department, Nashik Cyclists, Nashik Runners, schools & colleges came ahead to take an active part in the plantation drive.

Pannu said - “More such plantation drive should take place to maintain the balance of the ecosystem which is getting deteriorated along with the progress made by the human race. We have to understand our responsibility towards the environment and support such activities in the best way possible.”

“Do what you can, with what you’ve got, where you are.” - Squire Bill Widener

Every Indian hamlet brings you a lot of small entrepreneurial stories. From the roadside tea stall to the vegetable cart puller, a description of a local market in India stays incomplete without their sweltering day. They indeed play a major part in keeping the wheels of the local economy moving, while supporting the daily lives of the general population in many different ways. This is our “Support System”; without them, life will not be in normal mode. Unfortunately, the recent episode of the pandemic has badly affected this small scale sector, leaving behind families who lost their trade and thereby their livelihood.

Punarjanmam Foundation Trust aids rehabilitation of the small scale businesses in the country by providing them with the tools of their trade, and their families the essentials that help them re-establish a normal, respectable life. Punarjanmam helps this “support system” get back on its feet and start earning its living. https://punarjanmam.org/

During VRAAM, we created awareness about the same and raised a sum of Rs 59,449/- for the same.

“Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body. But rather, to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming...

WOW… What a ride!!!”
