Ahead of the Race Across America 2019, Bharat pledged a tree for every kilometre of the route — offsetting the carbon footprint of his support vehicles crossing the United States. On 10 June 2019 the saplings went into the ground at village Wasali, near Sula Vineyards in Nashik, where Samsonite funded the entire planting and three years of upkeep so it grows into a lasting, self-sustaining green cover.
Credited to Samsonite for funding every sapling and committing to its planting, upkeep and three-year care. With gratitude to the Forest Department, Nashik district, for providing eleven acres of forest land. And heartfelt appreciation to all the volunteers — from the runners’ and cycling groups, the police, the Army, local NGOs and the people of Nashik — who came forward to plant them.
During V-RAAM 2020 — 12 days of non-stop indoor cycling — Bharat rode in support of the Punarjanmam Foundation to help small entrepreneurs hit hardest by the pandemic. The campaign turned a virtual race into tangible relief.
