The longest single ride of his career — circling India's Golden Quadrilateral and beating the old record by almost five days.
The event started on 16 October 2020 from India Gate, New Delhi, and I rode the 5,942 km Golden Quadrilateral route via Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai, finishing back at India Gate on 31 October 2020 in 14 days, 23 hours, 52 minutes and 11 seconds.
The earlier record of 19 days 23 hours — set on 5 March 2017 by Mr Devanshu Shivnani of New Delhi — was improved by almost five days.
The sheer enormity of the event tested the determination and mental strength of rider and crew alike. I encountered bad traffic, several days of rain in south India, and equipment breakdowns, sleeping just 3–4 hours on average while covering more than 400 km per day for the duration. The record is also recognised in the Limca Book of Records.
Official record. The ride is ratified by Guinness World Records and also listed by the World Ultra Cycling Association — Solo, Male 18–49, standard bicycle, at an average of 16.51 kph over the 5,942 km. Coverage included the EME Journal (Dec 2020), The Times of India Bangalore (07 Nov 2020), NDTV, Times Now, The Economic Times, Hindustan Times, Outlook, The Quint and ANI.
